Roseanne's Surgery Fells 'Domestic Goddess' In the wake of star Roseanne Barr's upcoming hysterectomy, her upcoming ABC Family show "Domestic Goddess" has been cancelled and the fate of her ABC reality series "The Real Roseanne" is in doubt. The concept behind "The Real Roseanne" was already somewhat perplexing: It was devised as an on-network reality series about the making of a reality show that would air on cable. ABC hoped that airing two episodes of "The Real Roseanne" every week leading up to the proposed Sept. 20 premiere of "Domestic Goddess" would be a ratings boon for both shows.Instead, the strategy backfired. The Aug. 6 premiere of "The Real Roseanne" attracted just under 5.3 million viewers. The show followed the comedian as she developed her planned cooking show, pitched it to various networks, hired staff and dealt with her quirky friends and family. According to media reports, production on "Domestic Goddess" only recently began and no episodes were completed. The 50-year-old "She-Devil" star announced that she will undergo the hysterectomy operation this week, effectively ending the show before it ever began.ABC is still debating what to do now with a reality program about a show that will never exist, but with low ratings and nothing to promote, "The Real Roseanne" may not be keeping it real for much longer.
